Did we really float down stairs when we were kids ?
In recent months, numerous individuals have been sharing their experiences on social media regarding a childhood memory that many seem to have in common: the sensation of floating down stairs. I too recall this peculiar memory. When I was approximately six or seven years old, I would often awaken in the middle of the night, get out of bed, and stand at the top of our staircase. During these moments, I experienced an unusual feeling of weightlessness, and I would float down the stairs in a cross-legged position, as if riding a magic carpet. I do not remember ever reaching the bottom. This phenomenon occurred several times a week until it eventually ceased as I grew older. I had not contemplated these strange experiences for years until I encountered several TikTok videos where others discussed similar occurrences. I was amazed by the number of people who had experienced this as children, prompting me to delve deeper into the subject. Unfortunately, my research yielded limited information, primarily consisting of personal anecdotes. However, I did discover a plausible explanation that resonated with me. Some psychologists suggest that this memory may stem from being carried down the stairs by our parents while we slept, with the sensation of weightlessness contributing to the feeling of floating. Conversely, some paranormal enthusiasts propose that it could be related to astral projection. Regardless of the explanation, it remains a fascinating and enjoyable topic for discussion.
